Hello Brawl Stars players, Today I am going to give you an in depth guide to Solo Showdown and Brawlers to use in this mode.
Overview
Solo Showdown is the first game mode you unlock after starting the game. The objective is simple; be the last player standing. Simple, but not easy. If you play in Solo Showdown pre 400 trophies, most of the time people try to do the basic objective. But after that, a lot of players try to team by spinning their Brawler around in circles and using pins and sprays etc. ( I am sometimes a culprit of this myself!).
Strategies
There are a lot of different strategies in Solo Showdown including:
- Bush camping until there are only a few Brawlers left so you don’t lose any trophies. (Best brawlers: Anyone really but Shelly is a good option).
- Going straight to the centre of the map to get a lot of boxes that drop Power Cubes to upgrade your Brawler’s HP and attack power for that match. (Best brawlers: Buzz, Janet, El Primo, Max and Brawlers that can deal splash damage (Hit multiple boxes/enemies at a time). *One problem with this strategy is that sometimes not many boxes spawn in the middle.
- Get a few boxes near where you spawn and pick off enemies around you to get their Power Cubes. (Best Brawlers: Leon, Shelly, Surge, Bea, Gray, Max, Crow and Janet).
Brawlers to use in Solo Showdown
As you might have noticed, some Brawlers appear a few times such as Shelly, Max and Janet because these are some of the best Brawlers right now.
Shelly

A lot of players use Shelly in Solo Showdown with the Gadget Clay Pigeons. This is because since they buffed Shelly’s movement speed to Very Fast, Fast Forward is now rendered useless because you don’t need to close the gap between you and your enemies; you can just run up to enemies with your Very Fast movement speed. I have recently become a Shelly main, and would definitely recommend you use her in Solo Showdown and other modes.
Best Solo Showdown Build: Clay Pigeons, Band Aid, Speed Gear, Attack or Shield Gear (personal preference).
Best Playstyle(s) in Solo Showdown: 1, 2, 3.
Max

I have been a Max main for ages now and she has always been consistent in a lot of modes including Solo Showdown! With her Gadget Phase Shifter you can easily get away from Edgar jumps or Buzz supers. Her reload speed and movement speed are both very fast and on top of the fact that she has 4 ammo slots!
Her best Star Power for pretty much every game mode is Super Charged so you can get your super quicker which is vital for playing Max.
Best Solo Showdown Build: Phase Shifter and Super Charged, Damage Gear and Shield Gear
Best playstyle(s) in Solo Showdown: 1, 2, 3.
Janet

I haven’t had Janet all that long, but what I do know from playing her is that you want to stay back so you can focus your attack up to the full range and then launch her attack (auto aiming with Janet doesn’t focus the attack at all so will have very short range). Janet has been in the top 10-15 brawlers since her release, so she is VERY consistent. Janet is good in every game mode and Solo Showdown is not her best one. Her Gadget Backstage pass is very useful to escape agro Brawlers such as Carl, Edgar and Buzz. Drop the Bass is usually better in other game modes but Backstage pass is better in Solo Showdown. In terms of Star Powers, the better one is usually Vocal Warm Up because you can focus your attack to max range faster. On certain maps such as Feast or Famine, Stage View can be used to scout the bushes.
Best Solo Showdown build: Backstage pass, Vocal Warm Up, Damage Gear, Shield Gear or Speed Gear depending on the map.
Best Solo Showdown playstyle(s): 1,2,3.
Bea

Bea is a very good Brawler, she is very consistent and has massive range. She can kill people from very far away and dish out 3000 damage shots constantly. She is great against tanks. Her best Gadget is Honey Molasses because you can easily slow enemies down from behind walls and kill them with your insane damage output. Her best Star Power is down to personal preference and playstyle. If you like to go full offense with Bea you will want to use Insta-Beaload; although if you are a more defensive Bea player (like myself) you will want to use Honeycomb to protect yourself whilst you have the charged shot ready. I like to use Honeycomb in Solo Showdown so I can have increased survivability.
Best Solo Showdown build: Honey Molasses, Honeycomb (see above), Damage Gear, And Speed or Shield Gear depending on the map.
Best Solo Showdown playstyle(s) 1,3
Overall thoughts on Solo Showdown
Solo Showdown is a very fun mode, though I do prefer some of the other 3v3 modes. A lot of people try pushing trophies in Solo Showdown by teaming. This is quite a quick way although it doesn’t always work. I didn’t give guides on other good Brawlers for Solo Showdown such as: Crow, Leon, Surge etc.
I will give in depth guides on how to play as: Surge, Crow, Mortis, Edgar (only Showdown (Duo and Solo) because he is TERRIBLE in any other mode) and R-T, who is a very solid pick. I will make those in the near future.
Solo Showdown is very fun and I recommend you give it a go and try my tips on how to survive and earn Trophies in this mode!
